Chris Matthews' "Hardball" producers let the host down, as neither Sen. Pat Leahy or Rep. Henry Waxman accepted Matthews' invitation to grill Karl Rove on tonight's 5pm edition of Hardball. However that didn't stop Matthews from taking a few shots of his own at the President's adviser, as he called Rove a "bum," and sarcastically commented on Rove's genius as he greeted viewers of the August 13th edition of "Hardball" this way:

hardball-ingraham-creepy.jpg You may recall Hardball host Chris Matthews’ creepy exchange with CNBC’s Erin Burnett where he asked her to get closer to the camera so he could gawk at her and called her a knockout. Well, he was at it again Wednesday only this time he vowed his admiration of right wing hack Laura Ingraham. Apparently, Matthews has been a guest on Ingraham’s show and they’re good buddies.
In one incident Tuesday night, a protester jumped a fence and ran onto a stage being used by MSNBC during a live broadcast of "Hardball." Host Chris Matthews was on set with former EPA chief Christie Todd Whitman, NBC Correspondent David Gregory, Newsweek's Howard Fineman and commentator Sherry Annis when the protester leapt onto the stage, ran in front of the camera and charged toward the set.
Hillary3 Media Matters documents a clip from the February 15 edition of Hardball, where Matthews was engaged National Review Washington editor Kate O'Beirne and Democratic strategist Steve McMahon. Up for discussion was Clinton's (D-NY) vote for the 2002 resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq was. Unlike the other Senate Democrats running for president, Clinton has refused to call her vote a "mistake.' More on that in a moment, but first, these pearls of wisdom from Matthews.
Pivoting off a David Shuster report that claimed Alan Greenspan "provided evidence" that the Iraq war has been "fought for oil," Matthews devoted much of the September 17 edition of "Hardball" to that conspiracy theory.
