Hamster: Hamster Wheel
built 191 days ago
The Hamster Wheel physical structure is a typical and complicated kinematical system. Several forces are involved in the movement of wheel (Fig. 6). They include pendulum gravity, friction force between wheel periphery edge and floor, whole wheel inertia force, motor driven force etc.

Since the Hamster is likely to spend the majority of its entire life in a caged environment it is particularly important to provide it with as large and interesting a home as possible. There should be ramps, ladders, galleries, tunnels, a wheel and any other wooden object that it could gnaw at to wear down its growing incisor teeth. Many pet shops now sell hamster 'cities' which are all interconnected by tubes. However, these can be a costly investment compared to the hamsters life span and just as much fun could be gained by creating your own hamster city.

A component based kit and programming interface of Hamster Wheel allow junior science explorer to build their personalized wheel. There are some competitions held to see whose wheels go faster under different wheel diameter levels. For the competitors it is not easy to make wheels go under their control only determined by a few factors. This game is full of challenge and fun. Behind the game, the players learn lots of science knowledge.

Give a hamster an exercise wheel and it will take care of its own exercise needs. Hamsters can ... be put into a hamster ball which you can put on your floor and the hamster will run around the house inside the ball. Providing long habit trails (plastic tubes which the hamster can run through) will give the hamster plenty of room to roam around. They enjoy tin cans opened at both ends (make sure there are NO sharp edges) and boxes with multiple openings through which they can crawl.

The cage itself could be furnished with items, such as a wheel, to provide exercise for the hamster. Some hamsters do not like wheels or the hamster balls that they can run around the house in. The ball is better suited to the larger hamsters like the Syrian. As hamsters love to burrow a box filled three quarters full with shavings is ideal so they can burrow and tunnel as much as they like. They ... like to climb. It is possible to provide plenty to entertain this hamster with using household items, such as toilet roll tubes and boxes.

The use of live traps or a ramp leading into a bucket placed against a room wall may be necessary to catch an escaped hamster. Hamsters are most active during the dark and enjoy wheel-running activity. Pregnant females are reported to run up to 8 km per day.
