Those Xbox 360 Halo 3 accessories are all coming next week, and with it comes the Xbox 360 Messenger kit. The accessories are two controllers, one Master Chief and one Covenant Brute, and a limited edition Master Chief figurine by McFarlane toys. The Messenger Kit is that QWERTY keyboard add-on that lets you type without hooking up a USB keyboard. There's ... a Halo 3 wireless headset, which is just the same as the old headset bot Halo'ed up—which probably means the quality is still going to be as bad. The accessories will be $59, and the kit will be $29.

Published by Microsoft Game Studios and developed by Bungie Studios, Halo 3 is the third installment of the legendary story. The war has come to a climax; the Flood continues to grow in numbers and strength, the armies of Earth are scattered and decimated, and the Covenant threatens to activate the Halo. Master Chief's mission is to stop the Covenant, destroy the impending Flood threat and, ultimately save mankind.

Instead of fragmenting the storyline between two protagonists, Halo 3 places the focus squarely on Master Chief, which is an improvement over Halo 2. But Master Chief is a soldier on the battlefield, so he gets a lot of the story from the mouths of other characters.

A Todd McFarlane/Microsoft collaboration to work on Halo 3 controllers should be a winning combo...but it's not. Sure, the Spawn creator drew up some awesome images of Master Chief, soldier-filled Warthogs, and evil Covenant aliens. Yes, Brian thinks they're good. However, plastering a glossy reprint all over a controller isn't cool, it's gaudy and cheap looking. And packaging in Halo figurines doesn't make the design any better. Of course, the hardware is up to full Microsoft standards (read: awesome).

All Bungie has confirmed is that the Master Chief has returned to Earth, and will "finish the fight" against the invading Covenant Loyalists, with help from the UNSC-Covenant Separatist alliance. The Covenant has uncovered a massive and ancient Forerunner artifact under New Mombasa (The mountain in the background is indeed Kilimanjaro[4]) and Cortana is still trapped in the clutches of the Gravemind. For the first time in a Halo game, the multiplayer experience ... officially extends to the campaign, as Halo 3 supports four-player online co-op. One player assumes the role of Master Chief, one as the Arbiter, and the other two assume the role of two new Elites. Much like a Rainbow Six game, online co-op in Halo 3 adds a much more strategic element to the game, both in terms of battle tactics and in weapons loadouts (each character spawns with different base weapons).
