Halloween: Children
built 658 days ago
In 1983, Halloween was adapted as a video game for the Atari 2600 by Wizard Video. Either as the result of poor research by game developers or as an effort to save on licensing fees, none of the main characters in the game were named. Players take on the role of a teenage babysitter who tries to save as many children from an unnamed, knife-wielding killer as possible. The game was not popular with parents or players and the graphics were simple, as was typical in the 1980s. In another effort to save money, most versions of the game did not even have a label on the cartridge. It was simply a piece of tape with "Halloween" written in marker.
Halloween Fantasy When predicting the trends for Halloween decorations and costumes for the Halloween 2008, many prefer to add the creepy Ouija Board into their next Halloween parties and get together. Gone are those days when children alone who celebrate the festival, who go for trick-or-treating; today even adults join the Halloween parties and celebrations. When speaking of various costumes for the Halloween 2008, where just 302 days left for the celebrations, this time costumes like Paris Hilton and Michael Vick will be in demand. Of course costumes like zombies will ... be in the most wanted list.
Whether one allows their child to participate during Halloween, parents should be cautioned of a few things. If you decide not allow your child to participate, be aware of their reactions and feelings. Typically children (or even teens) will feel left out from social events, time with their friends, or will feel abnormal, different, or "not like the other kids". This is not reason to go against your conviction, but it does give reason to be conscious of their feelings, and to act as a support in their time of disappointment (not to say all kids will be disappointed). Whether your child is following Jesus or not, this is a great opportunity to bring your child to God's Word and introduce or remind them of the commitment to follow Jesus at any cost. Rent a movie, get some candy, or plan something fun for the evening.
Halloween is the soul winner’s dream. Rather than going to a wicked rock concert, or Mardi Gras, or a parade to witness – on Halloween they come to you! On Halloween lost children (and parents!) come to your door for a treat! Give them a real treat – the gospel of Jesus Christ! As you hand them some candy, give them a tract.

In Mexico, Halloween has been celebrated during the last 40 years where the celebrations have been influenced by the American traditions, such as the costuming of children who visit the houses of their neighbourhood in search of candy. Though the "trick-or-treat" motif is used, tricks are not generally played on residents not providing candy. Older crowds of preteens, teenagers and adults will sometimes organize Halloween-themed parties, which might be scheduled on the nearest available weekend.
The statewide Halloween event began as an idea of the Association to which many of the state's nursing homes belong. "We want our nursing homes to be as comfortable and home-like as possible, and so many of the elderly in our care have such fond memories of seeing the little ones come trick or treating in our homes," said Rebecca Turner, Chair of the Association's Public Advocacy Committee. "With the neighborhood children coming by, it gives our elder citizens the opportunity to share in the Halloween fun."
