Osment was born in Los Angeles, California, where his family still resides, to Theresa (née Seifert), a teacher, and Michael Eugene Osment, an actor.[1] He is the brother of actress Emily Osment of Hannah Montana and Spy Kids fame. He was a student at Flintridge Preparatory School in La Cañada, California, and currently attends New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

Haley will be arraigned on September 16th. If the Los Angeles District Attorney's office has their way, bail will be set at $15,000. He's expected to surrender himself to authorities soon. It's unlikely the judge will dole it out, but if he's found guilty Osment could spend 6 months behind bars.

During the earliest stages of production, Osment was considered for the role of Harry Potter in the eponymous films by director Chris Columbus. He rejected the offer, saying it shouldn't be made into a movie to prevent the magic of the books being lost,[5][6][7] and the role went to Daniel Radcliffe.

Los Angeles district attorney Ed Green announced Thursday that Osment was being charged with a number of misdemeanors. He was charged with driving under the influence; driving while having a .08 percent or higher blood alcohol content with the special allegation of having a .15 percent or higher blood alcohol content; possession of marijuana while driving; and driving with a .05 percent blood alcohol content while under the age of 21.
