Hey remember last month when it was reported that Haley Joel Osment flipped his car in an L.A. suburb? Well it turns out that he suffered a broken rib in the crash, and (surprise, surprise) just happened to be driving drunk at the time. He was ... found to be in possession of marijuana. I’m telling you… these child actors, they’re nothing but trouble! He was charged yesterday with “misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, marijuana possession and driving under the influence with the special allegation of having a blood-alcohol content of .15 percent or higher”.

Written and directed by Rusty Gorman, and produced and edited by Dan Schalk the film is a coming-of-age story told through the eyes of "Gar" (Haley Joel Osment). Gar is a high school journalist who covers his school's basketball team as it heads toward a state championship. Gar's best friend, Matt (Ryan Merriman), is the team's star. When Matt persuades Gar to take part in a robbery, things don't go as planned and Gar faces a desperate predicament with the state title and Matt's future on the line.

[T]he story goes back further--all the way back to a shopping trip Haley took with his mom when he was only four. They passed a video screen test-people in search of new talent. Haley asked his mom if he could give it a shot. He stood in front of the camera and read some lines. Soon after, he got a call for the Pizza Hut commercial that launched his career.

In the voice-over arena, Osment is heard as Chip in Walt Disney's animated release Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, as Zephyr in The Hunchback of Notre Dame Deux, and as Beary in The Country Bears. His latest animation honor was voicing Mowgli in Disney's The Jungle Book 2.

Osment fractured a rib and injured his shoulder when he crashed and flipped his 1995 Saturn in La Canada Flintridge on July 20. No one else was in the car, which hit a mailbox mounted on a brick base.
