Hades was formed by guitarist Dan Lorenzo back in 1978, playing around local rock clubs in New York and New Jersey. The band went on to open for groups such as Twisted Sister, Overkill, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, and more, touring in the States and Europe until their eventual break-up in 1989. The members of Hades, Dan Lorenzo – guitar, Scott LePage – guitar (first album), Ed Fuhrman – guitar (LePage’s replacement), Alan Tecchio – vocals, Jimmy Schulman – bass, and Tom Coombs – drums, went on to be part of the bands Non-Fiction, Doro, Watchtower, Power, and System Addict. Hades reunited in 1998 with new drummer Dave Lescinsky and the band signed to Metal Blade Records, releasing three CDs SaviorSelf, The Downside, and DamNation. (Drummer Ron Lipnicki replaced Lescinsky for DamNation.)

Hades was NOT the lord of death. His job was to run the Underworld. He was a good ruler. Parts of the Underworld were very nice, like the Elysian Fields, where heroes dwelled after they died. Parts were not so nice. Those were for people who were not so nice during their lifetime.

Hades is ... city located in St. Clair County, Illinois, USA, directly across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 31,542. One of the highlights of the city's waterfront is the Gateway Geyser, the world's tallest fountain, which spews water to a height of 600 feet and is designed to mirror the Gateway Arch across the river in St. Louis.

Echo is the smallest moon of Hades, and its surface is mainly desert landscape and rough mountain sides. The UNSC GENCOM of Hades has built several training camps for special operations forces such as the "Echoes", from which the name originates. There was no report of rebel activity on Echo as far as the Office of Naval Intelligence could cover. However, the possibility of insurgent forces being stationed on Echo is considerably high.

The KJV and the NIV mistranslate Hades as Hell. Hades and hell are two different places at two different times. Hades is the temporary realm of both good and evil departed spirits before the second coming. Hell is the final eternal abode of the wicked after judgement. No one is in Hell (gehenna) now.
