"The first issue of Shock magazine isn't due on newsstands until May 30, but publisher Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. is already hearing demands that it recall all issues from circulation. The request comes from a photographer of one of its cover images. Whether that will mean a very rough launch or a welcome bonanza of press attention remains to be seen.

Hachette, in conjunction with Peppercom, will launch an aggressive marketing and communications campaign that will establish the Shock brand in the U.S. Shock, consisting of a newsstand magazine, digital magazine, and Web site, is creating a new visually-stunning category in photojournalism that is real, raw, arresting and wild. Shock is adapted from Choc, the highly successful Hachette publication in France.
