Habbo Hotel have started dropping hints about a whole new service they’re rolling out soon. They sent over a draft version of a press release late yesterday, explaining that the soon-to-launch Habbo Home will “unite a virtual world and social networking in a completely new way”. In short, they’re launching a MySpace-style social network.

Habbo, which includes a commerce system featuring virtual items not unlike Second Life is a smashing success. The younger generations are adopting new media technologies such as Virtual Worlds at a rapid pace. This is great news for content creators trying to reach an older demographic in Second Life, whose own growth curve has allowed it to recently hit a quarter-million residents.
