The Wing Gundam as it appeared in Gundam Wing Wing Gundam's next main mission was in Siberia. Here, OZ was trying to send its Taurus suits into space, and all five Gundams came to stop the launch. Wing Gundam went into single combat with Zechs' Talgeese, as the other Gundams tried to stop the Taurus suits from reaching their launch site. However, when OZ's Lady Une threatened to destroy the colonies if the Gundam pilots did not surrender their suits. In response, Heero terminated his fight with Zechs by self-detonating his suit, and nearly killing himself. The Wing Gundam was esentially destroyed.
Gundam Wing is often considered to be very melodramatic, although much of this may be due to meaning lost in the translation to English. The story centers around the pilots of extremely advanced Mobile Suits (giant battle robots controlled from the inside) known as Gundams. They represent the space colonies, against an organization on Earth known as Oz which is (at least initially appearing to be) heading an attempt to take over the space colonies.
From Anime News Service: At this past weekend's Aka-Kon in Vancouver, Bandai Entertainment announced that Bandai America is developing a new collectible card game for Gundam Wing called Gundam MS War. The card game is not to be confused with the Japanese Gundam CCG (Gundam War) as the one released for North America will be very different in gameplay, etc. over the Japanese version. Further details on the game are pending.

At a point prior to the end of Gundam Wing, the Romefeller Foundation used the data from the Gundams and used it to develop new mass-produced mobile suits. Lucifer was a test unit based on Wing Zero, and was used to trial an improved ZERO system, Zero 2.0. Although more powerful than the original system, ZERO 2.0 forced the pilot to take certain actions, as opposed to the original ZERO 'suggesting and urging' them.

FINDER-W (the "W" is for "Wing"), the Gundam Wing branch of circle W Kei, features the formidable work of Mukai Yuuya. Focusing on Heero, versatile Mukai Yuuya has created not only serious, sensuous 3x1 and 2x1 tales (as well as the exceptional adventure epic "Aqua Satellite"), but ... a popular series of just plain funny vignettes in the life of Heero the cat, with the series cast--G-boys and OZ forces alike--playing supporting roles. Great stuff! Most recently, Yuuya-san has turned her talents toward doujinshi for Hikaru No Go and, teamed with Ruka Hanato under the circle name FACTOR, for Scryed.

After leaving the Wing Gundam at the bottom of the ocean, Heero disguised himself, and obtained several torpedoes from an Alliance military base, in order to destroy the Wing Gundam before it fell into enemy hands. However, the Gundam had already been found by a fellow pilot, Duo Maxwell, pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe. The Wing Gundam was set to self-destrust, but Duo deactivated the device. Duo caught up with Heero as he raised both their suits out of the sea. Heero fired the missiles at the two suits, and presumably destroyed them both.
