People's Park in Guangzhou is a popular venue for outdoor Chinese opera. Cantonese Opera is still very popular throughout southern China. The park was a government mansion for over 1300 years. Sun Yatsen suggested it be made into a park after the fall of the Chinese monarchy. Most days it is filled with middle aged joggers and senior citizens watching their pre-school grandkids. When there’s not an opera going on, the park is a good place to watch everyday Chinese life.
Guangzhou is the largest and most flourishing industrial and foreign trade center in south China. A China Export Commodities Fair is held in Guangzhou in the spring and autumn every year. Guangzhou has a humid climate, and flowers bloom there all year round; hence its name as the City of Flowers. Main tourist attractions include Ancestral Temple of Chen Family, Flowery Pagoda in Liurong Temple, Baosheng Temple and Sever-star Crags in Zhaoqing, Ancestral Temple in Foshan and hot springs in Conghua.

Guangzhou is ... the 'Home of Fruits' for the various kinds of tasty fruits that are produced there. Litchi, banana, pawpaw and pineapple, which are considered as the four best fruits of South Ridges, are really worth of trying. The city is also well-known for its plentiful teahouses. Having had too much of cocktails and brandies, another enjoyment to try is some authentic and fragrant Chinese tea in Guangzhou.
Tourists who go to Guangzhou expecting something along the lines of Hong Kongs shopping scene will be disappointed. For a place known for trade, Guangzhou is not much of a shopping city. Still, the markets are definitely interesting, and, as in most cities, good buys await patient shoppers who make wise use of their haggling skills.
