The Guam International Airport is a primary regional airport serving passenger and cargo needs between Guam and the United States, Asia, Australia and various islands in the Pacific region. As America's westernmost territory, Guam is internationally known as "Where America's Day Begins" and here in the western Pacific as the "Gateway to Micronesia."

Guam is served by the Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, which is a hub for Continental Airlines. There is one direct flight (through Philippine Airlines) to Guam from the U.S. Mainland originating in Los Angeles; this flight takes almost exactly 12 hours. Other flights to Guam go through Hawaii, Japan, or Korea first and generally requires a layover and a plane transfer. Flying to Guam from the mainland, through Hawaii, requires a 5-hour flight from San Francisco or Los Angeles, and another 7.5-hour flight from Hawaii to Guam. To fly to Guam from the mainland, through Japan or Korea, requires a 10-12-hour flight from the mainland to Korea or Japan, and another 3-4-hour flight to Guam. There are two direct flights a day to Manila, Philippines.

Guam is served by the Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, which is a regional hub for Continental Micronesia. The island is outside the United States customs zone and maintains its own customs agency and jurisdiction. Therefore, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection only carries immigration (but not customs) functions for incoming flights. Since Guam is under federal immigration jurisdiction, passengers arriving directly from the States skip immigration and directly proceed to customs. However, due to the Guam-only visa waiver program for certain Asian tourists, an eligibility pre-clearance check is carried on Guam for flights to the States. For travel to and from the Northern Mariana Islands (which are outside of U.S. immigration jurisdiction), a full inspection is performed though American citizens do not need a passport.
