Greenpeace informed Anheuser-Busch of the test results prior to their release and sought clear information from the company on the extent of contamination and its global policy on the use of GE ingredients. Anheuser-Busch responded that the rice is approved for use in the U.S. and is not used in brewing Budweiser destined for export. The full extent of the contamination remains unclear.

Greenpeace was founded in 1971. They have continued their company since then. They have probably stopped such “unusual projects” over the last ten years. They usually don’t put their life at any risk now. Still, one very recent project was stopping a range rover assembly line by handcuffing themselves to it, which proves they will always take some risk.

Never one to take a PR opportunity lying down, Greenpeace is fashioning the hooplah over its goose-eggs for Nintendo on its green company survey into even more media fodder. (And we're covering it!) Its latest gamer attention-grabber is Clash of the Consoles, a site that ranks the big three on their greenness with hokey, popcorn-y copy ("Master Chief won't be winning any green battles with lame recycling and big power use sucking down his energy score") and pretty much rehashed info from the green company survey. But, they've got fun form letters for you to send your company of choice begging them to go green! more

The purchase of 4,400 shares gives Greenpeace only a tiny percentage of Shell's total stock and offers the group no real leverage over the company. But it meets the minimum required to allow Greenpeace to communicate via the stock exchange with other shareholders, whose identities are otherwise kept secret.
