- Greens -- Parties
The Greens are a party that claims to hold values and ideals that are superior to other parties... this doesn't hold up to even casual inspection. The Greens are a party of aggression, dirty tricks and intimidation. - Kent Mesplay -- Green Party
Kent Mesplay was a 2004 candidate for the Green presidential nomination. He is a former president of Turtle Island Institute, an environmental engineer, an alternative energy activist, and a California Green Party organizer. - Petra Kelly -- Green Party
Petra Kelly was one of the founders in 1979 of Die GrÃÂünen, the German Green Party. Between 1983 and 1990, she was a member of the Bundestag (West German Parliament) for the Greens. - Rebecca Rotzler -- Green Party
There have been rumours that Rebecca Rotzler is running in the 2008 US Presidential Elections, although there has been no official announcement. So, plans are underway to encourage, recruit, and support her to run for President on the Green Party line. - Ralph Nader -- Green Party
Ralph Nader doesn't have the biggest problem of most third- and fourth-party candidates: name recognition. Since the mid-1960s, when he burst on the national scene with his book on dangerous automobiles, "Unsafe At Any Speed," Nader has been one of the nation's best known consumer advocates. The founder of Public Citizen, Nader is running a shoestring campaign. He is not accepting campaign contributions and deliberately has distanced himself from organizers of the Green Party, to avoid violating campaign finance restrictions on coordinated expenditures. Nader, in effect, has lent his famous name to the Greens in hopes party organizers can build their party faster because of it. Nader's key issue is corporate power over the nation's political institutions and the economy, and he is equally disgusted with the Republicans and Democrats. Nader calls them "the Rep-Dem Party, which is essentially a corporate party with two heads wearing different makeup." - Elaine Brown -- Green Party
Former City Council member Elaine Brown remembers the incident well. She was sitting at a light when a car pulled up beside her in the left turn lane. After a moment or two, the driver opened his door, leaned out and did something. The signal turned green and he turned left. "There was this big mound of cigarette butts," said Brown, who is current running for the State House of Representatives. "I was so mad." - Greens
Southwest Greens of Florida was sponsor at the 2007 Honda Classic golf tournament held March 1st through March 5, 2007 at PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens. Three putting greens were built for display and enjoyment by the fans on the tournament course. Greens were placed on #17 near the tees, and off #18 green located in the Nicklaus VIP Village. A small show green was installed at the Kids FunZone as well. The green on #17 Bear Trap hole is a 930 sq. ft. undulating green enjoyed by the fans who participated in the charity putting contest with a chance to win a Jack Nicklaus autographed golf bags complete with full set of clubs. The green on #18 is a 1200 sq. ft. Southwest Green by Nicklaus Design with triple cut turf (putting, fringe, and rough). - Greens -- Australian Greens
The Australian Greens are part of the global "Green politics" movement. Former Tasmanian Greens member of the House of Assembly Lance Armstrong summed this position up as, "...neither left nor right but forward." - Political Parties -- Party
Political parties and pressure groups are the main organisations which allow for participation in the political system. Parties, though not originally mentioned in the Australian Constitution, are crucial to understanding the realities of Australian politics. Most members of Parliament represent political parties, and parties closely influence policy development and the operations of both Parliament and the Executive. The Australian party system has been relatively stable, but both major groupings have experienced division and reconstruction at times. The traditional party system was based on socioeconomic interests, although this relationship has become less clear in recent times. Minor parties have often been influential and are an important variable in the political process. - Al Green
By the age of nine, Al Green was singing professionally, touring with a group of siblings known as The Greene Brothers. But even at an early age, the battle between the secular and the spiritual was raging within him: Al's father kicked him out of the group after catching him listening to Jackie Wilson. Heavily influenced by Wilson and Sam Cooke, Al followed their lead, forming an R&B group called The Creations (later the Soul Mates) in Grand Rapids, MI, where the family had re-located. The group scored a Top Ten R&B hit with 1967's "Back Up Train," but subsequent efforts failed to match that success.
