The Mayor's Committee for a Cleaner & More Beautiful Green Bay is now taking nominations for it's annual Beautification Awards. Nominations can be made online or by mail and will be accepted until September 24, 2007. There are seventeen catagories from which to choose. This will celebrate the 38th year the committee has been presenting awards to business and individuals for their efforts to make Green Bay a cleaner and more beautiful place to live and work. The awards will be presented on November 8, 2007 at Day's Inn. The public is invited to attend.

The Green Bay Packers were founded on August 11, 1919 by Curly Lambeau and Green Bay Press-Gazette sports editor Paige Tripplett. Lambeau solicited funds for uniforms from his employer, the Indian Packing Company. He was given $500 for uniforms and equipment, on the condition that the team be named for its sponsor. Today "Green Bay Packers" is the oldest team name still in use in the NFL.

April 25, 2007 - Hinterland, a brewery, upscale restaurant and lounge in Green Bay, plans to open a restaurant in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. The Milwaukee restaurant will open in August.
