The prominence of Greek Goddess Statues and other works of art dedicated to Greek Gods is explained by the fact that a great deal of Greek art was intended to thank the Gods for people’s good fortune. These statues were reflections of Greek life. The sculpture tended to humanize these myths and provide a symbol for mans purpose in life.

Just as each of the Greek myths is different, each of the gods is unique -- motivated by different values and priorities. Each of the gods has strikingly different characteristics, both positive traits and potentially problematic ones.
Prometheus (1868 by Gustave Moreau). The myth of Prometheus was first attested by Hesiodus and then constituted the basis for a tragic trilogy of plays, possibly by Aeschylus, consisting of Prometheus Bound, Prometheus Unbound and Prometheus Pyrphoros [T]he Christian apologist Arnobius, quoting cult practices in order to disparage them, and a number of Byzantine Greek writers provide important details of myth, some of it sourced from lost Greek works.
