Greek life is a great chance for new and continuing students to meet new friends, get more involved on campus, and aid the community through volunteer services. Being a member of a sorority is such a wonderful experience which words cannot be expressed only experienced. There are so many important and beneficial aspects to being part of the Greek life that allow each individual to grow and prosper as a student. Throughout your years at St. Mary’s University, you should try to learn more about Greek life and give yourself the possibility to consider becoming part of this group.

Greek Life is a popular option for many Butler students with approximately 35% of undergraduates choosing to become members. People join fraternities and sororities for many reasons. Some find it is a good way to meet people and make lasting relationships. Others see it as a way to develop leadership skills and participate in philanthropic and social activities. You're invited to explore all the opportunities available within the Greek community at Butler University.

Every Fall semester the Greek Community sponsors events to promote Greek Life on St. Mary’s. Greek Week is a time when brotherhood and sisterhood bonds strengthen and fun and excitement explodes. Throughout the week there are many activities that help serve the community, build friendships, and to have a good time. Events in the past have included an all Greek service project, Karaoke night, volleyball tournament, competitive games and talent show. Greek Week is coordinated by IFC and CPC councils, with assistance from the Office of Student Development.

The Greek Community provides opportunities to develop 12 of the 18 key factors that employers are looking for in new employees. These 12 factors are: Real-World Experience, Leadership Qualities, Personal Presentation, Attitude, Communication Skills, Computer Skills, Problem Solving, Customer Service Oriented, Proven Track Record, Adaptability-Drive-Initiative, Ability to Learn, & Preparation for Interviews.

Across a wide range of career goals, Greek Life at OWU provides opportunities to develop skills and responsibility that will benefit all facets of life. Each chapter on campus is self-governed, and provides opportunities to participate in the decision making and planning processes of the individual chapter and the larger Greek community. The extensive leadership experience OWU Greeks receive through involvement with other student organizations and activities on campus include regular officer training and goal setting retreats. Leadership training programs at the national and regional levels provide opportunities to learn additional skills in self- governance, and financial management.

In 1904, Greek Life began at The University of Montana. Today, nine chapters are strong and vital members of the Greek Life community. All Greek chapters here on campus are affiliated with nationally-strong organizations.
