Former Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams were born in Quincy, Massachusetts, as was John Hancock. Frederick Douglass began his career as an abolitionist in Boston. Former President John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts. Former President George H. W. Bush was born in Milton.

The Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation of Greater Boston (OCF/GB) was formed in 1995 by a small group of people diagnosed with OCD, their families and friends. This affiliate of the national Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation was organized in response to the absence of local support groups and educational resources. Although its name suggests a jurisdiction limited to the Greater Boston area, it extends its services in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. In fact, the affiliate has responded to inquiries from all parts of the United States and overseas.

The UMass Alumni Club of Greater Boston is an alumni organization open to all University of Massachusetts, Amherst graduates. The purpose of the club is to provide a connection between the University and its alumni through hosting social, professional, educational, and charitable events.
