The Great Rift Valley was formed over 20 million years ago when violent subterranean shifts collapsed the mammoth tracks of land that were situated along parallel fault lines... prompting enormous volcanic eruptions of molten rock. This current day immense fissure in the earth’s crust stretches some 9,500 kilometres from Mozambique to Lebanon.
