Saturday 5 May 2007: The second week of the live Grease is the Word television shows had the theme 'songs from the movies'. After each of the 'Danny and Sandy' hopefuls had sung their songs and the public votes where added up, it was announced that the two couples with the least votes where Richard Morgan and Joanna Power along with Michael Quinn and Vicky Hoyles - so they had to both perform the classic Grease song 'You're The One I Want' as if they where Danny and Sandy. After the sing-off, David Gest, on behalf of the Judges, announced that they would save Michael and Vicky, which meant that this week Richard and Joanna where knocked out of the competition to be Danny and Sandy.

It, along with 1977’s "Saturday Night Fever", cemented John Travolta as the new “it” boy of the late 70’s. And Olivia Newton-John parlayed the film transition from good girl Sandy Olsen to vixen Sandy Olsen into a change of musical style that eventually led to 1981’s sex-charged, number one single for 10 consecutive weeks, “Physical.”

"Grease," the 50's style musical which first appeared in Chicago in 1971, is probably still best remembered in its 1978 film incarnation. That wildly successful movie, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, still packs an entertainment punch, as does this lightweight but tuneful set of musical happenings at Rydell High School.

The Broadway cast of Grease will perform nationally on ABC'S "Good Morning America" Monday, October 29, 2007 between the 8-9AM hour. The show, which opened on August 19, 2007, began preview performances on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 W. 47th St.) on July 24. "GMA" airs in New York City on WABC channel 7.
