The planet Grass is inhabited by Hippae, malevolent horse-like creatures with powers to control human minds, and Foxen, mysterious intelligent beings. The aristocrats of Grass, the Bons, live in distant estancias in the grass plains, and dedicate their lives to the Hunt, riding Hippae to kill Foxen. The commoners live in Commons, the one section of the planet inaccessible to the Hippae. Somehow linked to the interplay of man and hippae and foxen is a deadly plague sweeping the galaxy, killing men on every planet - except Grass.

Grass is ... used in several contexts in sports, most notably with sports played on fields such as football, cricket, baseball, and rugby. In some sports facilities, including indoor domes and places where maintenance of a grass field would be difficult, grass may be replaced with artificial turf, a synthetic grass-like substitute. Sports such as cricket, golf and tennis are particularly dependent on the quality of the grass on which the sport is played.

Defensively, the Grass-type is best at defending against certain Electric-type Pokémon, such as Raikou and Jolteon. Many Electric-type Pokémon carry the move Hidden Power, usually of the Grass-type, Ice-type, or Water-type. If the Electric-type doesn't carry an Ice-type move, it may not have any moves that a Grass-type Pokémon isn't resistant to; at the most, the Electric-type can hit with a normal effectiveness move that doesn't benefit from same-type attack bonus, such as Crunch. The Grass-type isn't very good at defending against other Special types; Fire-type and Ice-type moves are commonly carried by special attackers, and Grass-types won't be able to switch into a move benefiting from same-type attack bonus and then be able to survive a super effective move.

Like Exeggutor, Tangela learns almost no decent moves on its own save for Sleep Powder, the mainstay of all the Grass types. Absorb should be kept while raising (lots of PP to wreck the Elite Four), and then replaced with Mega Drain once perfect stats have been achieved.
