CAMBRIDGE, England, January 7, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- ARM ; (ARMHY) today announced that 18 ARM Partners are using products from its Mali(tm) graphics portfolio. ARM(R) Mali55(tm) and Mali200(tm) graphics processing units (GPUs) have been licensed by nine SoC vendors, including Micronas Inc., and Zoran (who have incorporated it into their APPROACH(R)5C multimedia processor), since their launch at 3GSM in 2007. In addition, the ARM Mali-JSR184(tm) 3D graphics engine has been licensed by nine leading OEM licensees including Samsung Electronics.
"We are delighted to be recognized with Mentor Graphics as industry leaders by EDN and their readers," said Ken Karnofsky, director of marketing, signal processing and communications, The MathWorks. "By partnering with Mentor Graphics to deliver an integrated system-level verification flow, we are providing a much needed capability for engineers in the rapidly expanding market for FPGAs as a platform for high-performance DSP, as well as the ASIC/SoC signal processing market."

In late October 2007, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency presented Quad/Graphics with an Environmental Excellence Award for its participation in the SmartWay(SM) Transport Partnership. The award recognizes Quad/Graphics' leadership in reducing emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases from its freight transport activities. In 2006 alone, Quad/Graphics prevented the emission of 11,878 tons of carbon dioxide -- the equivalent of taking 2,332 passenger cars off the road. It ... prevented the emission of 70.5 tons of nitrous oxide and 1.13 tons of particulate matter.

ARM's unified graphics stack strategy places ARM software IP at the heart of major OEM software teams and graphics hardware acceleration at the centre of SoC design teams. The ARM graphics ecosystem enables collaboration among market leaders to link the ARM platform with a community of complementary solutions to shape the future of the graphics industry. With more announcements due in 2008, ARM contributes its expertise as a processor, GPU and tools vendor to enable application developers and device manufacturers to create competitive and cutting-edge designs pre-silicon. This mutually beneficial cooperation provides device manufacturers and software developers with the differentiation necessary to lead in this competitive market.
The SoC integrates the powerful 32-bit ARM926EJ-S(TM) CPU core with the Fujitsu high-performance graphics display controller, the MB86296. Built using Fujitsu's 90nm CMOS process technology, the MB86R01 is optimized for applications requiring maximum CPU performance combined with sophisticated 2D and 3D graphics.
