Gough Whitlam: Malcolm Fraser
built 654 days ago
Gough Whitlam, born in 1916, is probably the most interesting of Australia's political leaders so far. This explains why he receives more space in Michelle Grattan's edited collection Australian Prime Ministers (New Holland, 2000) than anyone else - despite the fact that Whitlam won two terms, compared with Billy Hughes, Joseph Lyons, Robert Menzies, Malcolm Fraser, Bob Hawke and John Howard, who each won three or more.
