Sources told the Times that Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear has received more than 3,000 claims about its light-truck tires since 1995. Most of those claims have been settled with consumers receiving replacement tires and reimbursements if their vehicles were damaged, the paper said. Sinclair could not confirm the number of complaints.

The number '13' was a lucky one for global tire and rubber manufacturer Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. The company was established by American inventor Frank Seiberling in 1898. The first manufacturing facility was founded in Akron, Ohio and had only employed 13 employees who were all significant in the production of the first products of the firm, which consisted of poker chips, rubber horseshoe pads and carriage and bicycle tires.
