Goo was the first album released after the band signed to major label Geffen Records. Their albums became more accessible and less experimental, but still retained elements of their trademark collage of noise. In contrast to the band's previous album, Daydream Nation, many songs on Goo start and end abruptly. Daydream Nation was known for its long, "psychedelic" guitar intros and outros.

Since its startup, Googles has worked to develop story lines around its "Googles from Goo" alien characters, games, music recordings and other elements to expand its web presence. In addition, the company has developed stickers, CDs, plush toys and other items to promote its website and generate income. Googles recently launched its GOOTUNES children's music label on iTunes. Its future expansion plan includes attracting investors as well as licensing its concepts and characters for other children's entertainment media, including television.

After realizing Goo repaired his backpack strap, he apologized and convinced her to stop creating imaginary friends and find homes for the hundreds she has already conjured. Goo and Mac ultimately become great friends, and in her mission of finding homes for her friends she replaced Wilt as the winner of the "Friend of the Month" award for a long time. She later became a strong, although unofficial member of the Foster staff, often taking control of 'Adopt-A-Friend Saturdays' in which she will create new and better methods to organize the adoption process.
