God: Existence
built 628 days ago
Fideism maintains that all attempted proofs and disproofs of God's existence are misguided, as belief in God must depend on faith rather than any rational arguments or proofs. This argument makes the existence of God a spiritual "question" as opposed to an intellectual one. Fideists often quote scripture as support for their claim, such as Hebrews 11:6.
According to the Scriptures, and the experience of the saints of both the old and New Testaments, God is absolutely holy. This means literally that he is absolutely different and unlike anything or anyone else that exists. He is so unique and so perfect that his existence cannot be compared to any other existence. God is absolutely transcendent, "what he is, by essence and nature, is altogether beyond our comprehension and knowledge" (John of Damascus) .
Many arguments for and against the existence of God have been proposed and rejected by philosophers, theologians, and other thinkers. In philosophical terminology, such arguments concern schools of thought on the epistemology of the ontology of God.
The existence of God is taken for granted in the Bible. There is nowhere any argument to prove it. He who disbelieves this truth is spoken of as one devoid of understanding (Psalm 14:1).
In mercy God withholds or modifies deserved judgment, and in grace God freely gives undeserved benefits to whom he chooses. All of these moral characteristics flow from God's great love. In contrast to his transcendent self-existence is his gracious self-giving, agape love. He who lives forever as holy, high, and lofty ... lives with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit (Isa. 57:15).

God enjoys declaring random bits of land to be Holy Ground, and will smite any who walk on it without taking their hats off and making a donation. Unfortunately, this leaves a bit of a mess for the janitors. [T]here are many first-hand witnesses to God's existence since the supposed death. God is often seen flying around the sky over Mexico. Many people, including the United States of America's George W. Bush, speak with God on a regular basis. God often tells them to do things, things which further God's causes but coincidentally further their own selfish goals. Funny, that.
