Gleneagles Hotel: Connoisseurs Scotland
built 660 days ago
Gleneagles - Queens Course Golf at the Gleneagles Hotel is a blend of natural experience and golfing adventure on three championship golf courses set in the splendour of the Perthshire hills in Scotland. The golf courses were the inspiration of two of the world's most famous golfers, James Braid, five times winner of the Open Championship who designed the King's and Queen's, and Jack Nicklaus, Golfer of the 20th Century, who designed the PGA Centenary Course.
The Spa at The Gleneagles Hotel, is one of the Leading Spa hotels in Scotland. The Gleneagles Hotel is a Five Red Star golf resort designed in the style of a French chateau, set in 850 acres of stunning scenery in Perthshire, Scotland. It celebrated its 80th anniversary in June 2004.
Gleneagles Hotel The first visitors of course were able to travel by train to Gleneagles Station just down the road, from where chauffeured cars would transport guests and their luggage to the hotel. This is of course a custom which very much continues today and is a popular and comfortable way to arrive from Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. The opening of Gleneagles was a major event with the newspaper reviews and articles: " A Riviera in the Highlands", "The eighth wonder of the World" " The Playground of the Gods" and "The Switzerland of Scotland" were just some of the accolades. The first night dinner dance, with Henry Hall and his band was broadcast live on the BBC, a broadcast that would have been a technical feat of genius for its time. Hall composed a special piece of music for the opening night entitled, "Glen of Eagles" and to this day the hotel has a Golden Eagle as its symbol.
