The hostility of sections of the media towards Gina became increasingly apparent during this period. Newspaper and magazine articles frequently accused her of being a prima donna, fiery and argumentative. There were no reports that Gina was uncooperative with her colleagues. Nor was it suggested that she regularly fell ill at critical moments - as Elizabeth Taylor did - or failed to be ready for work at the allotted time - as Marilyn Monroe did. In essence, the complaints were that Gina stood up for herself, and was willing to raise her voice when doing so.

In 2003, Gina produced a book, Sculptures, which presented her works on display in Moscow, Venice, and Paris. Inside there are several photos of Gina’s bronze and marble sculptures along with many of her drawings plus various photos. This book ... has biography of her career written by several notable people.

Gina was wholly involved in all the phases of work in the studios and foundries of Pietrasanta: from the initial idea to the preparatory work in clay and wax and the casting in bronze. She put the finishing touches to the most delicate parts herself, handling cutters and emery paper like a skilled worker. The gilding in 24-carat gold of many of the statues based on her own film characters is again all her own work. So far she has kept all the works jealously concealed.
