An actress known for her roles in such films as Bound and Showgirls, Gina Gershon is ... a singer/songwriter with a longtime connection to musical performance. Born in Los Angeles, CA, in 1962, Gershon acted from a young age and ultimately attended both Emerson College in Boston and later N.Y.U. Although she technically studied philosophy and psychology, Gershon immersed herself in the theater scene and eventually began landing film and stage roles. Prior to her recording career, Gershon appeared in a 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret. Consequently, she nabbed a role in the 2003 film Prey for Rock & Roll about a fictional all-female rock band. Gershon had to play guitar and sing for the film and even toured with the rock band Girls Against Boys to promote the project.

Gina was born on June 10, 1962 at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California....the youngest of 5 children. She was three weeks early...and says that is why she is so impatient today! Her ethnic background is French, Russian, and Dutch, and says "I could be the Meryl Streep of the Mediterranean world!" She was a Valley girl, and a surfer chick! She grew up in Woodland Hills in the San Fernando Valley. Trying to shake that image, she moved to New York and studied at New York University, and got a degree of Bachelour of Arts.

Gina Gershon gives a power house performance in Alex Steyermark's "Prey For Rock & Roll," the story of four women in a struggling Los Angeles punk band. Gershon plays Clamdaddy's lead singer/guitarist Jacki, a forty year old rock goddess, who after twenty years in the business has yet to hit it big.

Last year the movie, Prey for Rock & Roll, was released, produced by and starring Gina Gershon along with co-star Drea de Matteo. It was the life story of Cheri Lovedog, founder of the LA punk band Lovedog. To promote the movie, Gershon teamed up with the indie rock band Girls Against Boys to tour around the US playing various venues such as Joe's Pub in NYC and House of Blues in Los Angeles. Along the way a camera crew and Gershon herself videotaped nearly every aspect of the tour and cut it down to air on the Independent Film Channel.
