KTHV-TV reports that an Ashley County Circuit Court previously ruled it had jurisdiction over the case and determining whether the employees could make a claim against Georgia-Pacific under the workers' compensation act. However, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, saying the state Workers' Compensation Commission had "exclusive, original jurisdiction" over the matter.

Georgia-Pacific’s New Hampshire wallboard plant is a leader in reducing construction waste going to landfills. Fifty construction contractors participate annually in this ongoing recycling program. The plant recycles 8,700 tons of contractor material in a normal year. When the state of Massachusetts was researching ways to reduce construction waste in landfills, it called Georgia-Pacific to learn from their experience.

The state Department of Ecology (Ecology) has approved Georgia-Pacific's request to construct a new "oxygen delignification" system for washing the resin from wood fiber. A new fresh-water scrubber will be added to the system to remove pollutants from vapors and gasses that eventually are released to the air.
