George Strait is the gold standard by which many of today's male country music singers measure themselves. And many still come up short. He tours only sporadically and films music videos only when the mood strikes, and yet, George Strait concert tickets are still in constant demand, even after more than 25 years.

George Strait's traditional country style has won him legions of fans on the road to becoming one of the top recording artists of all time. His live show is simply a must see for any fan of the genre.

Neo-traditionalist country singer George Strait drew heavily on traditional country and honky tonk more then any other mainstream country artist in the 1980s. It was this sound that inspired the careers of Randy Travis, Clint Black and Garth Brooks. He originally began in a garage playing with a rock band. He started playing country when he was stationed in Hawaii with the Army. He starred in his own movie, Pure Country, in 1992. He has since continued writing hits and performing shows.

George Strait's new single, "I Saw God Today," debuted this week at No. 19 on the country charts. That's high, even for Strait. Is that the work of God? Or the brilliant songwriters? Brooks & Dunn's "God Must Be Busy" is holding steady in the Top 20, too. Maybe there is indeed a special place on the charts for songs about Him.
