CBS offered this anchor brief from Russ Mitchell on the morning of April 11: "In other entertainment news, pop singer George Michael apologized to his fans in a CNN interview in LA last night. Michael was arrested Tuesday and charged with what police called a lewd act in a restroom in a public park in Beverly Hills. He is due in court next month."

A judge did not sentence George Michael to jail for driving while high. He pleaded guilty last month to a charge of operating a motor vehicle was high on drugs. He was found asleep at the wheel in the middle of the road when police arrived.

Michael pleaded guilty last month to the charge of driving while unfit. The court was told the 43-year-old had a cocktail of drugs in his system including GHB and marijuana when he was found slumped at the wheel of his car in the British capital in the early hours of the morning.
