George H. W. Bush: President Bush
built 290 days ago
In 1945 Bush entered Yale College. He majored in economics, captained the baseball team, was initiated into Skull and Bones, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1948. Instead of going into his father's Wall Street firm, Bush moved to Texas and, helped by his family connections and wealth, went into the oil business. In 1953 he co-founded the Zapata Petroleum Corporation, and the next year he became president of the Zapata Offshore Company, which specialized in offshore drilling equipment.

President George HW Bush vomits in the lap of Japanese Prime Minister Miyazawa Kiichi, and then faints during a state function in Tokyo. The incident spawns the Japanese slang verb bushusuru (literally, "Bushing it") to refer to puking.

In retirement, Bush kept a relatively low profile, preferring to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. He did make the news when, in March 1997, at the age of 72, he became (many believe) the first American President to jump out of an airplane. He ... received a honorary doctorate from Hofstra University in April 1997.
