Geoffrey Bodine: Track
built 267 days ago
Bodine explained that he has been around racing all of his life. His parents owned a short track in New York state, and his father built him a “little racer” when he was 5. As he grew up, Bodine, like Newman, attended college and received an engineering degree. He served six years in the National Guard.
On lap 301, Bodine pitted, followed by Trickle on the same lap, Shepherd on lap 310, Martin on 313, Earnhardt on 316 and Waltrip on 317. By staying out 15 laps longer than Bodine, Earnhardt and Waltrip lost a lot of track position while Bodine was circling the track on fresh tires, unlapping himself and taking the lead when Waltrip pitted.
Geoffrey Bodine Bodine missed over two months last season while he healed from injuries suffered in an accident in the truck race the week of the season-opening Daytona 500. His truck rolled several times down the track before bursting into flames.
