built 267 days ago
Geoff Bodine, May 2007 Geoffrey Bodine (born April 18, 1949 in Chemung, New York) is the oldest of the three Bodine brothers (Brett Bodine and Todd Bodine) who are all NASCAR drivers. Geoff currently lives in Cornelius, North Carolina.
Bodine at the Track: Brett Bodine, who broke his right collarbone in a wreck during final practice Saturday at Michigan International Speedway, was on hand for Sunday's race as his brother Geoffrey Bodine drove the #11 Hooters Ford in his place. Brett Bodine hit the wall between turns 1 and 2, then his car shot down to the inside and he hit a wall of tires head-on. In addition to the collarbone injury, Brett Bodine suffered a concussion and knocked eight caps off his teeth. "To take two hard hits like that is a testament to our cars and safety stuff that we've put in these cars to make them safer for the drivers," Brett Bodine said. "The second hit on the inside was in the soft wall that the speedway had installed and that certainly did its job because I hit that running probably over 150 mph. I was unconsciousness and pretty much hit it straight on, so everything did its job for me to be here today."(ThatsRacin.com)(6-15-2003)

In the 1994 inaugural Brickyard 400, Bodine led 24 laps, second most to winner Jeff Gordon. But on Lap 101, younger brother Brett Bodine bumped Geoffrey and sent him spinning into the wall. There were some harsh works between brothers afterward.
"I think that's the next step that we need to take," said Brett Bodine, one of three racing brothers. "We've taken leaps and bounds since I've been in the sport -- safety issues, and all the things that they've improved, infield-care centers and all the record-keeping that they do. But you always feel you could do better in those areas."
