Genital Herpes: Blisters
built 630 days ago
Most patients with genital herpes experience a prodrome (symptoms of oncoming disease) of pain, burning, itching, or tingling at the site where blisters will form. This prodrome stage may last anywhere from a few hours, to one to two days. The herpes infection prodrome can occur for both the primary infection and recurrent infections. The prodrome for recurrent infections may be severe and cause a severe burning or stabbing pain in the genital area, legs, or buttocks.

Much unnecessary anxiety and fear has been caused by exaggerating the dangers of genital herpes. Genital herpes blisters are cold sores in the genital area. The condition should not be regarded as a particularly serious illness, a source of shame or guilt, or a serious barrier to sexual and other loving relationships.

Despite all probable efforts, male genital herpes blisters cannot be removed by cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen therapy) or a cone biopsy. Males subjected to natural or pharmaceutical immune suppressors experience more frequent outbreaks and shoddier response medications. What really happens is that impaired immunity makes the body unable to stop emerging lesions that are associated with the burning sensation, pain, urinary dysfunction, fever and a swelling of the lymph nodes in the groin area.

A genital herpes infection will generally appear as a small, fluid-filled blister which goes through a cycle of phases. The blister will usually weep (ulcerate) and form a scab or 'crusting' before healing and disappearing completely.

Primary genital HSV infection can be severe and involve generalized flu-like symptoms. This, combined with the pain and discomfort of the sores and, in some cases, secondary bacterial infection, can leave people feeling run-down. Fortunately, recovery is fast once blisters have healed.
