Generation X 49 Created by Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo for Marvel Comics, Generation X is a 1990s-era superhero team with mutant youngers. The group made their debut in November 1994, with the original team consisting of Husk, Skin, M, Jubilee, Synch, Mondo, Penance and Chamber. Skin (Angelo Espinosa) for instance possessed six feet of extra skin, whereas Synch (Everett Thomas) can clone the powers of other superheroes close-by. (BasedonWikipedia.More...)
Unlike their baby-boomer parents, members of Generation X were not part of massive social movements, such as the push for civil rights or opposition to the Vietnam War. But, as the United Way study notes, they grew up in a world of domestic instability. They were among the first "latchkey" children, with parents significantly more likely to divorce than in previous eras, and some saw their parents laid off from their jobs.
For some of this generation, Generation X thinking has significant overtones of cynicism against things held dear to the previous generations, mainly the Baby Boomers. Some of those in Generation X tend to be very "consumer" driven and media savvy. Another cultural hallmark of Generation X was grunge music, which grew out of the frustrations and disenchantment of some teenagers and young adults. The fashion of grunge music was exemplified by the bands Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Nirvana. The grunge of the 1990s was influenced by punk and heavy metal of the 1970s and 1980s.
[T]hat new generation -- commonly referred to as Generation X -- has so far proved elusive to most charities. The oldest members of Generation X, defined by demographers as those born in 1965 through 1981, turn 40 this year. Most are in their 30s, meaning they are approaching a point in their lives when they are established in their careers and their communities. As a result, they are nearing an age when they are both financially ready and emotionally mature enough to become active in philanthropy.
Generation X-tasy rules far more than wanton excess. The trend is increasingly making consumers more experiential. That may explain why projects like Dubai’s Palm Island are nearly sold out, with consumers fanning around the globe in search for new experiences.

Generation X employees tend to be less motivated by promises of overtime pay and more motivated by personal satisfaction with their jobs. They want to grow in their jobs and learn new skills. They will change jobs often as they seek jobs that offers them both better benefits and more opportunity for professional growth as well as personal fulfillment.
