Geneforge: Spiderweb Software

As with graphics, sound has never been a crucial part of Spiderweb’s excellent games, and for the most part, Geneforge is no exception. While there is a fairly decent variety of effects and noises scattered throughout, there are few reasons to keep the sound on during your exploration. Background noises have been infused into the game, leaving you with the background bustle of a busy city as you haggle with a merchant, or the distant cries of skulking monsters while you wander through a forest. These add somewhat to the experience, though the considerable amount of hissing and popping can grate on one’s nerves after a time.

Geneforge 3 is Spiderweb Software's latest game in the series. Fans will enjoy the story and gameplay. While new players might be put off by the graphics, Geneforge 3 should supply plenty of quality gaming to those who give it a chance.

Spiderweb Software, makers of the award-winning Geneforge and Avernum series, announces the release of Geneforge 3, their newest fantasy epic with a science fiction twist. In Geneforge 3, you can explore strange, hostile lands, choose which side you will fight for, and, as always, make your own horde of completely obedient mutant monsters. You have been chosen. You are one of the precious few who will be allowed to become a Shaper. You will be given the power to create life and mold it to serve your own needs. The whole world fears and respects the Shapers.
In many ways, Geneforge 4 is more of the same (which, as anyone who has played a recent Spiderweb Software game should know, is a Very Good Thing). The interface is very similar to Geneforge 3 or, for that matter, Avernum 4. Standard movement in the world is point-and-click, real-time fair, while combat is turn-based. The statistics and magic systems are exactly the same as past Geneforge games.
The statistics menu in Geneforge. The Geneforge series of role-playing games was created by Jeff Vogel of Spiderweb Software. They are released as shareware for Microsoft Windows and the Apple Macintosh computers. There are four games in the series: Geneforge, Geneforge 2, Geneforge 3, and Geneforge 4: Rebellion. As with all Spiderweb Software titles, graphics and sound are limited and not the main focus of the game. Instead, Vogel concentrates on creating involved and engaging plotlines (which gives the series a dedicated fanbase among fans of the "classic" RPGs of the 80's and early 90's.) The games are highly non-linear, with multiple goals allowing the player to join any sect, and receive one of a number of endings. There is a high degree of player influence on the game world, and the existence of multiple solutions to problems.
Geneforge 2 is the all-new sequel to the fantasy hit Geneforge. Geneforge 2 lets you choose whether to be good or evil and to chase your goals with your own army of lethal, totally obedient, mutant creatures. Tags: Spiderweb Software, Geneforge 2 Software downloads 2006-06-13
