Tierney separated from Cassini, challenged by the marital stress of Daria's condition, but they later reconciled and had a second daughter, Tina. During her separation, Tierney had two romances. The first was with Tyrone Power, her co-star in The Razor's Edge. That came to an end in the spring of 1946. During the filming of Dragonwyck, she met a young John F. Kennedy who was visiting the set. They began a romance that ended the following year, when Kennedy told her he could never marry her because of his political ambitions.

In the 1946 version of THE RAZOR’S EDGE Gene Tierney played opposite Tyrone Power in this WW1 drama. She had the presence of mind to wear this stunning sapphire ring which is certainly why the film was nominated for Best Picture.
Tierney as Isabel Maturin with French society snob Elliott Templeton (Clifton Webb) in the film adaptation of W. Somerset Maugham's THE RAZOR'S EDGE (1946). This story of childhood friends who grow up and go their separate ways was nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture, and featured an all-star cast including Anne Baxter, John Payne, Tyrone Power, Herbert Marshall and Elsa Lanchester.
