Gazebo is a multi-robot simulator for outdoor environments. Like Stage, it is capable of simulating a population of robots, sensors and objects, but does so in a three-dimensional world. It generates both realistic sensor feedback and physically plausible interactions between objects (it includes an accurate simulation of rigid-body physics).

The Gazebo lives in small parks or in large private lawns. It is believed that the creatures feed on small children found in these areas. Gazebos are capable of remaining still for days and weeks at a time, waiting for their prey to wander into range. When a potential meal gets near, the gazebo lashes out violently. Gazebos that live in parks have been known to save their food, storing it in metal cages, known as monkey bars. Alice in Chains were famously known for using Gazebos in their live shows, along with young girls bound and gagged.

Gazebo designs generally range, at a very basic level, from octagon shapes through to oval and onto rectangular designs. The majority of gazebo designs have six sides with their railings pointing to a peaked roof. The size and general architectural needs can vary greatly and you'll find most companies will be willing to accomodate your needs. For its initial telecast, “Close-up to Fame” chose Gazebo Royale as one of their pit-stops. Contestants were asked to re-enact an old Close-up Commercial. They will be adjudged according to their performance or acting abilities. It was fun for the contestants as well as the crew who shoot the segment at Gazebo Royale.

The Player/Stage project provides two multi-robot simulators: Stage and Gazebo. Since Stage and Gazebo are both Player-compatible, client programs written using one simulator can usually be run on the other with little or no modification. The key difference between these two simulators is that whereas Stage is designed to simulate a very large robot population with low fidelity, Gazebo is designed to simulated a small population with high fidelity. Thus, the two simulator are complimentary, and users may switch back and forth between them according to their needs.
