Gauntlet: Gauntlet Ii
built 276 days ago
The new Gauntlet Series II delivers the field-tested performance of the original Gauntlet while including many new features previously found only on more expensive presses. With a 16" x 18" print area and both 8 and 10-color capacity, the Gauntlet Series II is more versatile than any other press in its class. It is engineered with a servo-driven indexer that allows the press to instantly "ramp" up to speed, resulting in smooth operation and unsurpassed, precise indexing control. The press ... includes M&R’s exclusive Revolver Print Program (Patent No. 5,595,113) that permits multiple flashing with just one flash unit. It is all operated by a sophisticated, easy-to-use operator interface with "plain language" programming and diagnostics. The new Gauntlet Series II can be used with pre-registration systems including pin, and is fully compatible with M&R’s Tri-loc pre-registration system.

Due to its phenomenal success in the arcades, Gauntlet was ported to several home systems of the day. These platforms include DOS, Apple II, Atari 8-bit, NES, Atari Lynx, Amiga, Sega Master System, Mega Drive/Genesis, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, among others. More recently, an emulated version of Gauntlet was included in Midway Arcade Treasures; a compilation of arcade games available for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles and Windows. For some machines, only Gauntlet II was converted, since it was considered to be more advanced than the first game in series. In 1990, even the original Game Boy received a version of Gauntlet II. 16-bit conversions (Amiga, Atari ST & Mega Drive/Genesis) had similar sound and graphics as the original game.
