Saying Garth Brooks has had a major positive impact on country music worldwide during his career is about as big an understatement as one could make. However, this boy out of Oklahoma has managed to get many people that wouldn't have given country music a second look a chance to find the genuine feeling and talent contained in many of country's tunes. Even though it sounds like Garth was born with a guitar pick in his hand, he didn't start out life wanting to be a country star. Garth learned to play the guitar in high school. But he ... managed to play football, basketball and track. In fact, many of Garth's learned fans know he went to Oklahoma State University on a track and field scholarship as a javelin thrower.
