On the eve of the most important game he would ever play, Garry Kasparov sought the advice of legends Botvinnik and Tal. If Kasparov succeeded, he would take Tal's place as the youngest World Champion in history. Was this another one of Garry's magic numbers?

From the Publisher's website: "Garry Kasparov is generally regarded as the greatest chess player ever. He was the thirteenth World Champion, holding the title between 1985 and 2000. His tournament record is second to none, featuring numerous wins in the world's major events, often by substantial margins. As well as his outstanding successes, Kasparov has constantly promoted the game; he has done more than anyone to popularise chess in modern times."

"GARRY KASPAROV'S GREATEST CHESS GAMES was undoubtedly many years in the making. Most of Kasparov's games were subjected to close scrutiny both in Chess Informant and magazines around the world. Stohl, who had a regular monthly column in a Czech magazine for many years where he did detailed annotations has unquestionably made use of this material, synthesized it, and added to it. The result is a tremendous book that should inspire chessplayers everywhere. Not only is the book excellently written but it is ... a beautifully produced oversize hardback.
Highly Recommended." John Donaldson, , www.jeremysilman.com

Kasparov has written a number of books on chess. He published a somewhat controversial autobiography when still in his early 20s, originally titled Child of Change, which was later retitled Unlimited Challenge. This book was subsequently updated several times after he became World Champion. Its content is mainly literary, with a small chess component of key unannotated games. He published an annotated games collection in the 1980s: Garry Kasparov: Life, Games, Career, and this book has ... been updated several times in further editions. He has annotated his own games extensively for the Yugoslav Chess Informant series and for other chess publications.
