1. Fountains

2. Fountain
   Overtly displaced from its original context (the everyday bathroom), Fountain is not only rotated, but has been displayed suspending from a doorjamb (Molesworth 56). In fact, this Readymade was hung from a lintel at an exhibition in the Sidney Janis Gallery in New York in 1953 (Ramirez 58). Molesworth notes the complete uselessness of the urinal in such positions, humorously noting that, "if a man pees in the Fountain his urine will drip on him (56).
3. Gian Lorenzo Bernini -- Fountains
   Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1680) was the greatest and most influential sculptor of his age. Endlessly inventive and gifted with extraordinary skill, he virtually created the Baroque style. In his religious sculptures he excelled at capturing movement and extreme emotion, uniting figures with their setting to create a single conception of overwhelming intensity that perfectly expressed the fervour of Counter-Reformation Rome. Intensity and drama ... characterize his remarkable portraits and his world-famous Roman fountains.

   It is easy to forget, as one strolls through the Italian Garden, that Maymont is a public park. The garden is magnificent—featuring exquisite stonework, statuary, gazebos, fountains and, of course, beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. 9. Medici -- Renaissance Florence
   The Medici were rulers of Florence from 1434 to 1537. The hereditary principate was set up by Cosimo the Elder (Lorenzo’s grandfather) in the mid fifteenth century, but this had no legal right or title.
