Gamefaqs: Boards
built 139 days ago
GameFAQs is the video game help and discussion website on which Board 8 is featured. Starting in 2002, site owner CJayC began holding Summer Contests, which are popularity tournaments featuring 64 (or more) different video game characters. Board 8 was created for discussion of these contests. Until 2006 the board's name would always change to the reflect the most recent contest being held, but since the Spring 2006 Contest B8 has been officially known as "GameFAQs Contests".

Overall, GameFAQs is still a wonderful place to talk about video games or to look up help. There are some jerks, fanboys, and trolls on the boards, but truth is that the same goes for any other website. Additionally, the number of these people are very small. The majority of GameFAQs consist of fun-loving users who love their games and is more than willing to help their fellow gamers (or those who simply has a question or two).

The custom-made GameFAQs Message Boards, coded by Veasey, began operation on November 7, 1999.[37] Although the original purpose of the board system was to facilitate game discussion, other board categories have been added since the boards opened. Every day, approximately 20,000 topics and 200,000 messages are posted on GameFAQs' 50,000+ individual boards,[38] and as of November 7, 2006, there were more than 100,000 accounts actively in use.[39]

[Y]our misconceptions aside, GameFAQs can be better than you guys are giving it credit for. The game boards suck, but no one with half a brain ever goes onto them. during off-season. Come contest time, it sucks, unfortunately.
