Gameboy Color is a handheld video game system that has dominated the video game industries for years. It is the longest running video game console ever, originating in Japan, 1989. Although it makes only seldom appearances in the media, all of you must have heard of Pokemon, this system has the highest success as an entertainment system ever.

In 1994, Nintendo released the Super Gameboy, a devise that allowed you to play Gameboy Games through your Super Nintendo with limited color. Nintendo ... redesigned the Nintendo Gameboy into the Gameboy pocket, making the system much more portable and introduced a number of different colored Gameboys.

The Nintendo Gameboy was released in 1989 and was still being sold almost a decade later. In 1997 a thinner version of the Gameboy was released called the Gameboy Pocket. Soon after, the long awaited Gameboy Color was released.

Although Gameboy had some fair competition from Gamegear and NeoGEO Pocket Color, it managed to pull through and monopolize the market. Recently, NeoGeo Pocket Color, an frightfully superior handheld system compared to the Gameboy Color, had to retreat to Japan from North American shelves, the system could not live up to Gameboy's retail standards.

BasicBoy is a new Gameboy emulator written entirely in Microsoft Visual Basic 6. This project formerly had a Visual Basic.NET release as well, although the VB.NET variation has been discontinued. Currently the original Gameboy and Gameboy Color are both supported. BasicBoy's compatibility is fair at the moment and some instabilities still exist. BasicBoy is ... lacking gamepad input support.
