Game Boy: Game Boy Color
built 205 days ago
The Game Boy Player package includes the add-on hardware and a start-up disc. To paraphrase Henry Ford, you can have your Game Boy Player in any color, so long as it is black. Those of you with Indigo purple and Platinum silver GameCubes will have to live with the two-tone color that the Game Boy Player will add to your machine. On the other hand, it melds in so well with the Jet black GameCube that you may not even notice it on at first glance. If you really want your friends to notice that you shelled out the extra 50 (or 70) bones for a GBP, then there’s nothing wrong with having a non-matching color to accentuate the addition.

With the higher-definition screen on the Game Boy Color, Marshall ran into another problem. He found bugs, small errors, in the original game that had not been visible on the old display. The job was "challenging, but fun, and very satisfying," says Marshall. "Color is very important for Monopoly, with those blue and green properties. It's a big part of the enjoyment of the game." Marshall's colorized and enhanced game shipped in summer 1999.
When playing an original Game Boy game on a later system, the user can choose which color palette is used. This is achieved by pressing certain button combinations while the Game Boy logo is displayed on the screen. It is ... possible to use a monochromatic color scheme that preserves the original look of the game.
Game Boy Light Advance cartridges are half the size of all earlier cartridges and are compatible with Game Boy Advance and later systems. Some Cartridges are colored to resemble the game (usually for the Pokémon series. Pokemon Emerald for example, being emerald green). They are ... compatible with Nintendo DS; however, due to its lack of a link-cable port, the Nintendo DS cannot utilize any of the multiplayer modes of any Game Boy Advance titles or even connect to a GameCube. Some Advance cartridges have built-in features, including rumble features (Drill Dozer), tilt sensors (WarioWare: Twisted!, Yoshi Topsy-Turvy), and solar sensors (Boktai).
Game Boy Color Some were surprised that Nintendo released such an apparently underpowered system, as the Game Boy Color was not even as powerful as the GameGear, which was released way back in 1990. However, the Color, as with its predecessors, was notably more portable, more affordable and had a greater library of games than any of its competitors, as well as many years of carefully-built brand recognition behind it. As such it dominated the market, and destroyed all competition.
Marshall's most recent video game projects have been on the Game Boy Color, with the development of "Tonka Raceway" and the colorization and enhancement of "Monopoly" for Parker Brothers. These old game concepts, and even the old kinds of game platforms, have had astonishing life. Nintendo has had a great run with the Game Boy product line, updating it only twice in ten years, and making a success of decrepitly old technology when applied to hand-held games.
