Most of these people would regard gambling as the central thing in their lives. This type of addiction is one that is progressive and can cause great harm to every part of the lives of individuals. While they continue to engage in gambling activities, their home life, friendships, and occupations are adversely affected. In worse cases, people who have become addicted to gambling may resort to lying, stealing, or cheating when they run out of cash to use for their addiction.

People who need gambling treatment come into treatment financially and emotionally depleted. Most of them put every penny into their addiction. Gamblers are not bad people. Most of them have never been in trouble before. Gambling treatment is needed to bring the gambling under control.

Giving of prizes is NOT gambling if you do not have to risk anything to get the prize. Insurance is not gambling. The purpose of insurance is to spread the liability and risk of accident, illness, injury or death around. Insurance does not create the risk. It is a universal risk that all people face. It is probably the most effective way of seeing that needs and expenses incurred, if such should happen, are able to be paid for.

Unfortunately, the communities in and nearMiami-Dade County can now expect to see a rise in gambling addiction, bankruptcy, crime, destruction of families and increased suicides within the next three to five years. Gambling is a predatory industry that deceives people, exploits their weaknesses and takes their money. Casinos are not good neighbors!
