A child protection bill that would require Israeli ISPs to block access to gambling, pornographic and violent websites passed its first reading in the Israeli Parliament last week. Adult Israelis would still be allowed to request access to sites on the Government’s yet-to-be-compiled blacklist, but the controversial bill has been met with fierce opposition from technology and civil rights groups.
