Gallbladder: Fats
built 638 days ago
Gallbladder and endometrial cancer risks are five times higher for obese individuals”.There is evidence that cancer rates in developed countries are increasing at 5 to 15 times faster than developing countries. \"Women who are obese after menopause have a 50% higher relative risk of breast cancer,\" notes Thun, \"and obese men have a 40% higher relative risk of colon cancer…. In addition, fat centered around the abdomen may increase insulin and insulin-like growth factors in the blood, which may increase cancer risk. Michael Thun, MD, vice-president of epidemiology and surveillance research for the American Cancer Society (ACS) says one reason obesity may raise cancer risk is because fat cells produce a form of estrogen called estradiol that promotes rapid division of cells, increasing chances of a random genetic error while cells are replicating, which can lead to cancer.
Suspect gallbladder problems if your pain is in your right upper abdomen. You may have nausea and vomiting. Fatty foods may trigger pain. If you have these symptoms, see your regular doctor. He will question you and examine your abdomen. If he thinks your gallbladder is the problem, he will order gallbladder tests.

The gallbladder is a structure on the underside of the liver on the right side of the abdomen. The function of the gallbladder is to store bile that is produced in the liver before the bile is secreted into the intestines. Bile secreted into the intestines helps the body digest fats.

The gallbladder is a pear-shaped organ in the upper abdomen that stores bile to assist in the digestive process. During digestion, the gallbladder releases the bile through the common bile duct to the liver and the small intestine. The bile assists in the digestion of fat.

After being stored in the gallbladder the bile becomes more concentrated than when it left the liver, increasing its potency and intensifying its effect on fats. Most digestion occurs in the duodenum.
When fats are taken into the digestive system, a hormone is secreted which cause the gallbladder to contract... releasing the bile. The bile's job is to work on digested fats, carotene (which converts to fat in the body), and fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K). Lecithin in the bile dissolves this fat into droplets so small that the enzymes can surround them and process them so they can pass through the intestinal wall into the blood which takes it to the cells where you body can use it.
